Congratulations Weyburn Branch Saskatchewan Genealogical Society!

The Weyburn Branch Saskatchewan Genealogical Society is a volunteer, local heritage organization whose purpose is to promote and develop the study, research and preservation of local history and genealogy. This year is their 35th anniversary!

Maybe you were not aware, but there is a Saskatchewan Mental Hospital Cemetery just outside of town – where over 1,200 Saskatchewan Mental Health patients are laid to rest. There is no gate or sign for the cemetery and many of the graves are unmarked. The Weyburn Branch Saskatchewan Genealogical Society is working to gate the designated area and erect a sign to provide dignity and respect for the resting place of those patients.

We have committed to provide funding of $5,550 to the Weyburn Branch Saskatchewan Genealogical Society to help with their cause.
