The Opportunity

WCU has an exciting and challenging career opportunity within our Lending Department for a highly motivated financial service professional.  The Commercial/Agricultural Account Manager will be reporting directly to the Com/Ag Lending Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible to develop and manage an assigned portfolio of small and mid-sized business and agricultural members.  The successful candidate will proactively promote a full range of credit union products using a personal service approach to manager member and client relations. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education.
  • 4-7 years lending experience with a strong emphasis on commercial and agricultural lending. Additional lending experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge and thorough understanding of the legal and legislative requirements related to commercial and agricultural lending.
  • Advanced ability in interpreting complex financial statements, assessing risk, and determining produce/service opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to mediate, persuade, influence and negotiate.
  • Proven track record of developing strong internal and external relationships, both individually and in a team environment.
  • Proven success working with a sales, service and goal oriented environment.
  • Experience providing high quality service in a demanding and competitive work environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day administration and delivery of human resources programs and services to WCU’s employees. This includes recruitment, facilitation, employee relations, labour laws and legal compliance, compensation and benefits administration. You will be collaborating with other members of the HR team to support your fellow colleagues and meet the Credit Union’s strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources plus 4-5 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably non-unionized environment.
  • A CPHR designation is desired.
  • Working knowledge and thorough understanding of HR legislation, both provincial and federal.
  • Proven track record of developing strong internal and external relationships, both individually and in a team environment.

The application process

If you are short-listed for a position, we will contact you to move forward with an interview. The interview process

After the position closes, our HR team will work hard to create a short list of candidates.  If you are selected for an interview, we'll contact you directly to set up a mutually agreeable time.  Your interview will be conducted by a member of our HR team and the department manager.  You should expect the interview to take between 45-90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the position.  We may ask you to fill out an additional employment assessment after the interview.  All the information needed to access the assessment will be given to you at this time.

After we have completed all the interviews and received all the assessments, we will make our decision.  You will be contacted from a member of our HR team, whether you were our chosen candidate or not. 

The job offer

If you're the selected candidate for the position, we will be contacting you with an offer of employment.  This offer is conditional upon you successfully passing the criminal, financial and reference checks needed for your position.
