Norm Wall: Order of Merit

Congratulations Norm!

Weyburn Credit Union recognizes Norman Wall for his dedication to the credit union system with an Order of Merit. This award recognizes elected officials who have demonstrated a significant contribution to the Saskatchewan credit union system. To receive the award, the recipient must meet program criteria as follows:

  • A record of exemplary service to a Saskatchewan credit union
  • Demonstrated leadership and an understanding of and commitment to co-operative principles
  • A positive public profile that reflects favourably on the Credit Union and the local community.

Norm Wall definitely meets and exceeds the award criteria. Not only has Norm served as a director on the Weyburn Credit Union Board of Directors for the past 16 years, he was also instrumental in establishing the Credit Union branch in the town of Yellow Grass. In March of 2004, after learning the community’s only financial institution was closing, a group of Yellow Grass residents, including Norm, approached Weyburn Credit Union. Following a series of meetings and thorough analysis, Weyburn Credit Union announced it would establish a branch in Yellow Grass, which officially opened July 14, 2004. Norm has been representing the area members ever since.

During his time on the board, he has served on all committees, including Executive, Audit and Risk, Conduct Review, Human Resources, Nominating, and Scholarship, and has held a seat at the Executive Committee table in both the 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, and Board Chair roles for five full terms.

Norm is committed to serving the Credit Union to the best of his abilities and ensure board decisions will benefit as much of the membership as possible. He is a graduate of the Credit Union Director Achievement Program and continually participates in educational opportunities. His board colleagues can always rely on him to dig deeper into monthly reports and ask for clarification whenever needed.

Norm is dedicated to helping build a strong and vibrant community. On top of his employment as a Customer Service Representative for Super Seed Inc., he serves on the Yellow Grass Town Council, the United Lutheran Partnership Council, and is Chief of the Yellow Grass Volunteer Fire Department.

Norman and his wife Donna live in Yellow Grass and have two grown children, Jeremy and Larissa, and two precious grandchildren.

Weyburn Credit Union would like to thank Norm for his dedicated service to the credit union system. This prestigious award was presented at the Weyburn Credit Union Board Meeting on September 23.
