WCU Social Media Public Guidelines

We joined Facebook to connect with you!  We’d love to share our passion with you - to let you know about what’s new with us and in our community.  You can expect us to post tips and tricks on investing and managing your finances. As well, we’ll introduce you to some of the great people that work at WCU – and let you know how they can help you create the life you want!  But more importantly, we want to talk about the things that matter most to you so go ahead and start a conversation with us! Share your thoughts and ideas – join the conversation - and have fun doing it.  And if we can help you out with anything in the process, all the better!
Before we get started, we just want to let you know about the house rules for our page – there aren’t many – and they aren’t hard. So here goes:

Rule #1 - Privacy Expand/Collapse

To say we believe in privacy and confidentiality is an understatement. We will never discuss a member’s personal transactions or account information online and instead direct our members to contact their branch or our contact center at (306)842-6641, so that their confidential information can be kept confidential. For your safety, we ask that you never post personal information - email, phone number, address, account number, etc. - about yourself or others using social media. For your protection posts of this nature will be removed.

Rule #2 - Play nice in our sand box. Expand/Collapse

Because we believe in open and honest communication, there are very few comments we will delete or remove.  Even if the comments aren’t exactly what we would like to hear (like if we make a mistake), we take those comments as an opportunity to right wrongs, to learn and grow, and to make sure they don’t happen again.  But to ensure everyone has a great experience on our page, we do reserve the right to delete posts and comments we deem inappropriate. We will always remove posts that are:

  1. Offensive Language – Weyburn Credit Union will not tolerate discrimination (including age, sex, race, colour, creed, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, disability, or marital status or any other legally recognized protected basis under current laws, regulations, or ordinances). This includes comments containing, but not limited: profane or provocative language, malicious intent, obscene or sexually explicit language, inflammatory language or disparaging language.
  2. Personal Attacks – We want to hear all the comments, but ask that commenters refrain from personal attacks or being disrespectful of others.  Malicious intent, or language intended to defame any person(s) and/or entity is not permitted.
  3. Submitted Content – By submitting any content, you grant Weyburn Credit Union the right to use this content in any and all Weyburn Credit Union websites, including social media channels, print, and other media, without payment or any other considerations.
  4. Spam – Comments focused on selling a product or service, or comments posted for the purpose of driving traffic to a particular website for personal, political, or monetary gain are not permitted.
  5. Illegal Activity – Comments that seek to defame or defraud any financial, commercial, or non-governmental agency are not permitted.  Comments that contain any suggestion or encouragement of illegal activity are not permitted.  Comments/posts must not violate laws that govern the use of copyrights, trade secrets, etc.
  6. Misuse of social media websites can, in certain circumstances, constitute a criminal offence or otherwise give rise to legal liability against you and us. It may also cause embarrassment to our members and to us.
  7. Off Topic – Comments that vary greatly from the overall theme of a particular discussion thread may be subject to removal.
  8. Posts in HTML Format (or URLs) will not be accepted. Please only use plain text.
  9. Posts from individuals under the age of 13 will not be accepted (Facebook rule).
  10. Posts containing pictures/videos will not be accepted unless specifically requested by an authorized representative of Weyburn Credit Union for a contest or business-related purpose. In these instances, photos/videos will be reviewed and will not be posted if deemed inappropriate.
  11. Please note that the appearance of external links on this site does not constitute an official endorsement by the Credit Union.
  12. WCU does not endorse any comments made by our employees, unless they are an authorized representative of the Credit Union. WCU does not validate assertions or forward-looking statements in the comments. All statements and viewpoints expressed in the comments are strictly those of the commenter alone, and do not constitute an official position of WCU unless they are posted by an authorized representative of the Credit Union or by a subject matter expert responding on behalf of the Credit Union.
  13. WCU reserves the right to change these guidelines at any time at its sole discretion.

Simply put, let’s play nice and we will do our best to inform, educate and entertain you.
